Self portrait (A4 print)
An A4 print of my most recognisable piece, Self Portrait (2022)
This painting originally started off as a self portrait as a gift for my ex, but I found that the more i tried to paint myself, and the further I got, the more my face would warp as a looked at it, the less i looked like myself and the more i hated it. After painting, hating it, repainting it, hating it even more, i found that I was slowly destroying any resemblance it had to myself. I found that my self portrait in itself had somehow manifested my own dysmorphia. I hated how much it meant i had to look at myself, i hated how i looked and it slowly led to the painting becoming more and more distorted, until my face is all but bloody mess. only then did i feel satisfied with it.
